About the Fluoride Action Network (FAN)

The Fluoride Action Network seeks to broaden public awareness about the toxicity of fluoride compounds and the health impacts of current fluoride exposures. Along with providing comprehensive and up-to-date information on fluoride issues to citizens, scientists, and policymakers alike, FAN remains vigilant in monitoring government agency actions that may impact the public's exposure to fluoride.

FAN's work has been cited by national media outlets including Scientific American, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, TIME Magazine, National Public Radio, and Prevention Magazine among others.

In May of 2004, FAN became an official project of the American Environmental Health Studies Project (AEHSP) - a registered non-profit (501c3) organization.

Victorian Fluoride Action Group

On a cold wet winter's night in August 2007, around 800 people left the warmth of their homes and attended a meeting in Warrnambool, Australia to listen to a debate on the Victorian Government's plans to add fluoride to their water supply. They were addressed by several highly credentialed speakers, including the past president of the South Australian branch of the Australian Dentist's Association, Andrew Harms, who was himself a former advocate of fluoride.

Sadly the debate failed to eventuate as not one of the thirty four people who were invited to give the pro fluoride view accepted the invitation.

Those invited included the Premier of Victoria, the Health Minister, the heads of the Department of Human Services (who are responsible for the implementation of the Government's fluoride policy), members of the Dental Profession and the Warrnambool City Council, who had included fluoride in their 2006 Health Plan.

At the end of this meeting, the attendees voted unanimously to oppose the introduction of fluoride to their water supply and demanded that a referendum of all Australians should be held on the fluoridation issue.

It was the largest public meeting held anywhere in the world to debate the merits or otherwise of fluoride.

Queensland for Safe Water, Air and Food Inc. (qawf)
Since our official inception our representatives have given presentations on water fluoridation to Lismore Council, Logan Council, Hervey Bay, Palm Island and Warwick Councils. Our members have also sent numerous submissions to Maryborough, Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Cooktown, Lithgow, Tenterfield, Gosford, Mt Gambier and various Victorian Councils to assist associates in other states who are facing forced fluoridation of their water supplies.

Until mid 2007 when the forced amalgamation of councils was announced, Warwick Council was in the process of organizing a referendum on water fluoridation. The Queensland Government had agreed to pay $70,000 to pay for the referendum to be conducted by postal ballot and was also to pay for a 4 week advertising campaign promoting the YES case for water fluoridation. The Queensland Government repeatedly refused to pay to assist the NO case, but despite this, QAWF Inc members distributed flyers, personally letter dropped Warwick and undertook a vigorous advertising and letter writing campaign in the 2 Warwick local newspapers.

Recently our members and other associated concerned people around Australia have sent submissions to the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) opposing the proposed fumigation of foods with a fluoride fumigant gas, that has until now been used a termite poison. This is of great concern to us as it means much more fluoride will be entering the food chain as fluoride residues will be allowed in many common foods; as much as 30 times that is allowed in fluoridated water but there will be no required monitoring of the fluoride residue. See here for a QAWF submission to APVMA.

Food Standards Australia and New Zealand had scheduled on Dec 12 2007 to release for public comment, a proposed change to legislation that would allow fluoride be added to bottled water, but has now delayed this until 2008 apparently in a political move. QAWF Inc members will be placing submissions that fluoridated bottled water, if approved, must be very clearly labeled with the concentration and the type of fluoride chemical added to bottled water. Additionally we will be requesting that a warning on the bottles, that infants under 12 months of age not consume fluoridated water as per the 2006 advisories from the American Dental Association and the (US) Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.

With the Premier Anna Bligh's announcement on Dec 5 2007 that she had made the decision to forcibly fluoridate almost all of Queensland water supplies, QAWF Inc is now commencing a campaign to recruit new members to help contest this decision. We will to lobby all Queensland MPs and are considering legal and any other action to prevent forced mass fluoridation medication of the Queensland population.

QAWF is a self-funding non-profit organization.

QAWF Inc and it's members gain no financial benefit from water fluoridation, or from preventing water fluoridation. We also gain no financial benefit from the sale of any fluoride product or service, or any substitutes for these.

Anti-Fluoridation Association of Mildura(AFAM)

The Anti-Fluoridation Association of Mildura (AFAM) was founded in 2008, in order to vigorously counteract pro-fluoridation interests that support and implement mandatory water fluoridation policies across the nation.

AFAM serves as an independent research, educational and activist organisation within the local community, whilst maintaining ties with an extensive global network of professionals and safe water groups.

AFAM will not give up its fight against water fluoridation until the barbaric practice is banned Australia-wide, and its perpetrators are brought to justice.

Australian Fluoridation News

The Australian Fluoridation News is for people willing to think and choose for themselves. Good critical thinking skills, combined with the basic information and questions provided here, cut through decades of fluoridation propaganda.

The Australian Fluoridation News publishes factual fluoridation data that illuminates the twin messages:

The plentiful evidence of the dangers of fluoridation, along with clear-cut evidence that fluoridation is fundamentally a commercial and political operation that ignores people's rights to bodily integrity and choice,

Our commitment is that fluoridation contamination will inevitably be removed from Australia, as has happened throughout most of Europe. It will take everything, all our efforts and perseverance, and our reward is our fully informed choice of safe, clean water.

First published in 1963, The Australian Fluoridation News raises the awareness of both sides of water fluoridation. Governments in the few remaining fluoridated countries (such as Australia) rarely publish or talk about certain issues with fluoridation, so the AFN publishes them to inform and educate Australians.

The AFN is distributed to libraries, parliaments and members THROUGHOUT Australia and overseas.

Central Coast Pure Water Association (CCPWA)

The Central Coast Pure Water Association (CCPWA) established over 20 years ago to prevent the fluoridation of the public water supply in Gosford and to raise public awareness of the dangers of fluoridation. We are an educational, non-profit, non-sectarian, non-party political and obtain our facts through qualified research. We are committed to obtaining a moratorium on the fluoridation of all public drinking water supplies.

The group shares its concerns with many other groups, scientists, health professionals and environmentalists concerned about the effects of fluoridation on human health, fauna and flora and the environment throughout NSW, Australia and the world.

To raise community awareness of the dangers and damage to public health and the environment of water fluoridation on the Central Coast To gain the support of Federal, State and Local Government officials and local representatives to stop fluoridation of public water supplies To network with, and support other anti-fluoridation groups both in Australia and worldwide

Fluoridation Queensland

Trillions of dollars have been spent in the last 60 years promoting artificial water fluoridation around the world. Yet very few countries adopted the practice and many of these have since discontinued it, with no increase in tooth decay.

This money should have been spent on serious dental science, e.g. research into the anti-caries properties of vanadium, strontium 38, molybdenum, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium and xylitol, plus diet, genetics, 'good' mouth bacteria
